AP PARTY LIST PEOPLE’S RALLY IN MANILA CITY AND ITS CALL FOR EQUITABLE AND RESPONSIVE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

In the upcoming 2022 Philippine National Elections, multiple Party Lists are vying for positions in Congress through the advancement of their political platforms for economic reform and social development. One of them is the Ako’y Pilipino or AP Party List which is comprised of seasoned local politicians and entertainment personalities.

Last April 28, 2022, an enormous and lively crowd of Manileños flocked together during the #164 AP Party List Grand Rally in Tondo, Manila City. The star-studded gathering was hosted by DJ Jaiho and Betong Sumaya and was further highlighted with the presence of prominent local celebrities like Michael de Mesa, Angel Aquino, Raymart Santiago, John Prats, Marc Solis, John Medina, and the Primetime King himself, Coco Martin. Participants were able to enjoy live performances, interactive activities and the commitment to service pledged by the #164 AP Party List.

Currently, Rep. Ronnie Ong, who is an elected representative in the House of Representatives of the Philippines of the 18th Congress, is the first nominee of #164 AP Partylist that pushes for an equitable opportunity for all Filipinos in relation to livelihood, transportation, education, and health. He is known as the key proponent of the Foundling Welfare Act which aims to provide rights and privileges to neglected or abandoned kids with foundlings’ citizenship status.

Despite being a newcomer in the policy-making arena, he championed policies by serving as an author and co-author of multiple bills related to employment, education, and protection of various vulnerable sectors such as children, senior citizens, and persons with disability (PWD), and animal welfare. In addition to these legislative advancements, he also initiated programs such as Tulong sa Senior Citizens Work Program, E-learning Hubs, and No Paw Left behind.

Rep. Ong was also one of the few legislators who extended assistance during the onslaught of the COVID-19 by providing bicycles, fresh produces, transportation services, and learning equipment through his #LibrengBisikleta, #LibrengGulay, #LibrengSakay, and #LibrengTablet programs, respectively. Through such initiatives, he was able to facilitate the alleviation of the negative impacts of the pandemic to the most vulnerable members of society.

In the 2022 National Elections, #164 AP Partylist will strengthen its legislative agenda on the following: (1) Accessibility to public (both land and water) transportation; (2) Internet connectivity to communities in far-flung areas; (3) Scholarship programs and educational assistance; (4) Mobile health services thru “Health on Wheels”; (5) Employment opportunities to unemployed individuals; (6) Anti-discrimination to Senior Citizens, PWDs, and Indigents; and (7) Animal rights and welfare advocacies, among others.
